No sir I don't like TA, and with the force paid subscriptions TA will be a very boring place. All the foriegn users who can't pay 100$ US will be deleted leaving American and European blogs. I for one like the blogs from the less fortunate places in the world. I want to see and try to understand their culture. Oh well flickr still offers free accounts! So I can still get my culture!

What a bunch of suck asses. The only people posting anything good about Text America are the people that havent been affected by their poor service and will keep their hand in each others pockets in hopes that their stupid poorly managed company will make it out of the garbage dump that they are in now. Text America totally sucks with poor quality and poor management and if you go to their site you can see where they begged their few members to post here to try to compete with Flickr.com which is managed by Yahoo. A much bigger and better managed company. Text America is only surviving on hype and not worthy of a namesake because of a few people that want to try to make a breakthrough into reality.

After you visit TA and find yourself staying awhile, wondering what makes you stayed for couple of Hours? Only TA friendly gals n guys; great pics n graphics... sense of humor n more. I havnt meet anyone yet in two years. But it feels like I know many of YOU. What ever we choose stay or go only a Fortune Cookie will tell, lol... S.M.I.L.E.................

It is sickening to see people talking trash about TA. Some of these same people are people who have shared their most intimate personal part of their lives within the
TA community. To see all of the trash talk now makes me wonder if you ever really meant it when you used to say how TA is like home. I can understand the frustration that some may have about being deleted especially after pouring your lives out for all to see, but think about all of the people that you have hurt with your words, posts and gang mentalities. It is disturbing to me that instead of looking at what you may have done or represented was not always in the best interest of everyone. The attitude started becoming that we are a group of individuals who are going to run rampid through this community without regard to the children who visit here or the families who want to come and visit their loved ones moblog. I have had my ups and downs on TA and I have even taken breaks to get away from the nonesense but I never walked away. I will GLADLY pay $99.00 if it meant that my kids can go on TA and have fun and see places that they may never see in life. Stop acting like children, accept responsibility for your actions and act like an adult and move on. If people have found another site that they are happy with then build up that site. Don't try to build it up by trying to bring the next person down. It is childish and uncalled for and to be quite honest it looks moronic and childish.
If nothing else, everyone who left TA or was deleted or whatever ALL need to remember the good times that you had and the good friends that you made and all of the laughs and all of the support.
Some of you have made life long friends and to trash each others preference in sites is totally uncool...Respect one another and stop all the drama.
I have been a TA member since Jan 2005 and I don't plan on leaving. I enjoy my time there I enjoy going back to old posts and reading comments from people I call friend...some are still here and some are gone but I sit and read and smile about all the good times we shared.

This may serve as news to both of you, but there is actually no monthly limit on Flickr {IF} you configure the email your pics option. You can upload as much and as many as you want via emails. The monthly limit only applies to the "upload your photos" interface built directly into Flickr's site.

Yep, Iknew Shawn ran the Google Group. In fact, the Google Group seemed to go down when Shawn was let go. Shawn was always very responsive the problems on the group, as far as I could tell. To be clear, I am not a TA-hater. I am a person who doesn't like my business mistreated, and I feel that any business that treats their customers (and employees) poorly deserves to lose my business. End of story.

John: check your facts too. TA does not offer free membership unless you are grandfathered in, don't believe me? Check the registration page. Secondly, Flickr is also free with a paid option of 24.99 ( pretty reasonable if you ask me) Also they do not have a storage limit, they do however have a posting limit if you have a free membership. However since their paid membership is so inexpensive it's really not a big deal. Also just because people don't agree with your opinion does not make them liars or people trying to fit in. That being said text america was a wonderful sight and still has some great features, I however feel it is being mismanged.

Theatrdiva must not realize that the TA staff member that handled google groups is Shawn Honnick who was soon after fired for those same reasons (poor customer relations) He now resides at flickr posting hate messages about TA. Textamerica is the absolute best moblog community on the web! Anyone who thinks differently has the right to thier own opinion but please get your facts straight! Free memberships are available and so is the option for $99 memberships without stupid limits on how much you can post per month. Flickr charges for membership & only allows you a set # of storage every month which is lame! Textamerica has it all & it is the only site that is positive & family friendly. It is not filled with negative users like the ones you see here making untrue reviews to fit in with flickr. TA will always be the best moblog place IN THE WORLD!

When I found TA back in 2004 I thought it was pretty cool. A year later, I started a 2nd site on TA and at that point began to interact with some of the other users, and had a great time. I never let it bother me that I got frequent timeouts on TA, there was a very inconsistent interface, or that there didn't seem to be any kind of leadership or authoritative "voice." As TA began to force "improvements" on users, it all started going downhill fast. The last template that was released was full of bugs and felt VERY untested when I used it (evidence of some of its bugs are still obvious on TA!). Later on, they forced the next "version" on TA on us (which was a step BACKwards), and we all lost our right to restrict private information (especially location and last login -- not that the last login signifier on TA actually WORKS -- it does not) to pre-approved friends also on the service. That's when I stopped posting and participating, and started a page on Flickr. Eventually, I heard through a friend that the TA staff had gone off the deep end, and had covertly announced that the service was going pay-only. What a shame that the people who run the site couldn't be bothered to put up a simple page detailing the changes -- you only knew the details if you were a "TA Insider" (a term used in a post by the top person herself). Bad customer service, bad communication, bad impelemtation of features, and a mass exodus of the cool people I met on TA -- all these things contributed to my voluntarily deleting my own account on TA and moving on. My recommendation would be for you to avoid the trouble I went through and just find a different site to use for your photo blog (preferably a professional-level one that is free or really cheap). I would recommend Flickr -- they're awesome!

TextAmerica used to be a great place to be, but it has gone downhill so much to the point that all of their loyal user (me being one) have deleted our accounts in protest. I was a loyal user and referred many new members to the site. I was a part of their Google Group, which was created for users to ask questions, post comments and communicate with the staff. Then, the staffers all of the sudden told us to stop the dialogue, that the group was only going to be used for bugs & problems and not for talk amongst the group. But when we would post concerns (per their request), we wouldn't get a response. We would have to write back 2 or 3 times, and instead of them coming back with a "thanks for your patience" we'd get "a we'll get to it in our own time, or we won't. Relax people." They were no longer accommodating, extremely combative, and this change in attitude was shocking.
Then, the rumor started that they would be deleting free moblogs in favor of a paid system. That's a business' prerogative, but they never made an official announcement to their customers. They posted a comment on one of their pages (still not sure which one, I never could find it) saying that free sites would be suspended as of July 1. So, people who saw it spread the word and we all scrambled to try to save our photos before the deletion date. Many people bucked up the $99/year so their stuff wouldn't be deleted. Then what happened? The day before the scheduled suspension, they posted another comment (but no official announcement, again) that they had decided to keep the free moblogs after all.
This is horrible business, not only for the paying customers but the free customers too. Add on top of that the threats that get posted as "telegrams" by management, trying to coerce their customers into behaving a certain way by threatening legal action or deletion... It's all too much.
Please, for your own sanity, stay away from TextAmerica.

Unfortunately what was once the best moblogging community on the net has become like an old shoe..worn out thanks to it's "new management." When Chris Hoar abandoned TA & the users the site went down hill and fast. Try Flickr its well worth the $29.99 year membership. Textamerica charges $99 per year. Looking at dollars and cents...it's not hard to determine which is the better choice.

The glory days of Textamerica are far behind them. Ever since the CEO Janet Leigh was abandoned by half the senior staff, she has been forced to take a more active role in the day to day running of the site and has proven herself to be ill-equipped for running a large scale operation such as this. Heavy handed is the nicest way of putting it. Dare to question her authority and you will be deleted. It’s her personal playground and you have absolutely no rights. Unless you happen to be one of the last remaining handfuls of "Loyalists" as they like to be called, prepare to be kept in the dark about what’s going on. Don’t expect any emails sent to the users regarding major changes. Communication with the over half a million users is limited to a stray comment here and there from management on a random blog that you'll have to wade thru 50-100 comments to find. And that’s if you know where to look in the first place.
The user interface is buggy at best. The entire site is filled with dead links and every so often they promise "NEW FEATURES" that nobody wanted, and are never delivered anyway. Will you fork over $99 to try it for yourself?

The negative posts dated newer than July 1st are closer to reality. TA has deleted many free users in the process of going to a pay only site. If anyone was to make any comments on the TA website about the transition to pay only, their comments would be immediately deleted by the editors, and their account would be suspended and deleted. Any free users that didn't know about the transition, wer left in the dark and probably still don't know what is going on. The bottom line is that if you place your trust in blogging on TA, you will have to pay a high price for a service that is much less expensive elsewhere.

I would expect certain people to make positive comments here about TA. BUT how is TA going if they are keep losing their base. Banning long time users from various features without letting them know why and other ARBITARY actions do not leave a good feeling with users. What is funny I that several of the people who made positive comments below are now gone from TA due to the actions of the owners and monitors. If TA is o survive then they need to apply equal actions to all and advise users when something is not acceptable.

Textamerica is in it's dying days. They charge you 99.00 up front with no trial for a buggy site with limited storage and bandwidth. The CEO Janet and the people she's allowed to manage the site have let it degrade for so long (i.e.: allowing internet bullying, posting of near soft porn, giving non staff members special access and privelages etc) that the site is in an unrecoverable status. She is now deleting members on a whim and those she personally doesn't like. The business practices of the site alone should turn anyone away and have already caused many long time users to leave for other services.
For 99.00 you get an inferior service with a dying, elitist community and a ceo who if doesn't like you then can delete you at any time, even if you're a paid member and haven't broken any terms of service. If you want a site that's about interesting moblogging pictures i'd look elsewhere.
If someone from TA tells you changes are coming and it will be the best moblog community and site ever.....well they've been promising that for years and the only new feature in the last 6 months is a new template design submitted by a member. Technically speaking Flickr is years ahead of ta.
Customer service and support are nearly non existent. They seem to answer certain users right away and some never get replies. I was charged twice for one month, emailed them several times and never got a reply or my money back, when they offered a monthly payment plan(which they no longer do).
TA has truly become tna, just surf the comment lounge or ta live and you'll see more tna there than on any other pic site i've come across.
Flickr, Pixpulse, and Buzznet all offer more features for moblogging for free or 1/4 the cost for pro accounts.
Avoid TA at all costs.

TextAmerica is easily my favorite moblog community out there. No site is perfect, and that includes TA. There are squabbles, and cliques, and everything else you'll encounter in the real world. But there are also some very real and caring people there. TextAmerica also provides users with very helpful tools that can help us keep riffraff off of our own moblogs. That leaves us to enjoy the people and moblogs we enjoy. I've found some other moblogs to be QUITE scary. TextAmerica has room to grow. But as long as it keeps moving in the same direction, it will continue to grow. I say join TA, and enjoy the beauty, laughs, and ample food for thought it has to offer. :)

You can not do better than TA. Coming up on my 2nd year in a couple of weeks. Almost 4K posts with over 165 videos posted. Professional team at TA. Responsive to input and open to improvements every month of the last two years. Does not get any better Than TextAmerica.com

Text America is a family friendly well monitored MOBLOG community. It allows unlimited pics, is constantly being improved upon, and the owners actually listen to users and make updates based on suggestions. It has an awesome comment section, great templates, and super members. It is a true community of people who actually get to know each other and even take the time to meet at communities meetings. It is an amazing site that gives a lot to its members.

No sir I don't like TA, and with the force paid subscriptions TA will be a very boring place. All the foriegn users who can't pay 100$ US will be deleted leaving American and European blogs. I for one like the blogs from the less fortunate places in the world. I want to see and try to understand their culture. Oh well flickr still offers free accounts! So I can still get my culture!

What a bunch of suck asses. The only people posting anything good about Text America are the people that havent been affected by their poor service and will keep their hand in each others pockets in hopes that their stupid poorly managed company will make it out of the garbage dump that they are in now. Text America totally sucks with poor quality and poor management and if you go to their site you can see where they begged their few members to post here to try to compete with Flickr.com which is managed by Yahoo. A much bigger and better managed company. Text America is only surviving on hype and not worthy of a namesake because of a few people that want to try to make a breakthrough into reality.

After you visit TA and find yourself staying awhile, wondering what makes you stayed for couple of Hours? Only TA friendly gals n guys; great pics n graphics... sense of humor n more. I havnt meet anyone yet in two years. But it feels like I know many of YOU. What ever we choose stay or go only a Fortune Cookie will tell, lol... S.M.I.L.E................. p.s. It is sickening to see people talking trash about TA. Some of these same people are people who have shared their most intimate personal part of their lives within the TA community. To see all of the trash talk now makes me wonder if you ever really meant it when you used to say how TA is like home. I can understand the frustration that some may have about being deleted especially after pouring your lives out for all to see, but think about all of the people that you have hurt with your words, posts and gang mentalities. It is disturbing to me that instead of looking at what you may have done or represented was not always in the best interest of everyone. The attitude started becoming that we are a group of individuals who are going to run rampid through this community without regard to the children who visit here or the families who want to come and visit their loved ones moblog. I have had my ups and downs on TA and I have even taken breaks to get away from the nonesense but I never walked away. I will GLADLY pay $99.00 if it meant that my kids can go on TA and have fun and see places that they may never see in life. Stop acting like children, accept responsibility for your actions and act like an adult and move on. If people have found another site that they are happy with then build up that site. Don't try to build it up by trying to bring the next person down. It is childish and uncalled for and to be quite honest it looks moronic and childish. If nothing else, everyone who left TA or was deleted or whatever ALL need to remember the good times that you had and the good friends that you made and all of the laughs and all of the support. Some of you have made life long friends and to trash each others preference in sites is totally uncool...Respect one another and stop all the drama. I have been a TA member since Jan 2005 and I don't plan on leaving. I enjoy my time there I enjoy going back to old posts and reading comments from people I call friend...some are still here and some are gone but I sit and read and smile about all the good times we shared.
@ John & Jessi... This may serve as news to both of you, but there is actually no monthly limit on Flickr {IF} you configure the email your pics option. You can upload as much and as many as you want via emails. The monthly limit only applies to the "upload your photos" interface built directly into Flickr's site.

Yep, Iknew Shawn ran the Google Group. In fact, the Google Group seemed to go down when Shawn was let go. Shawn was always very responsive the problems on the group, as far as I could tell. To be clear, I am not a TA-hater. I am a person who doesn't like my business mistreated, and I feel that any business that treats their customers (and employees) poorly deserves to lose my business. End of story.
John: check your facts too. TA does not offer free membership unless you are grandfathered in, don't believe me? Check the registration page. Secondly, Flickr is also free with a paid option of 24.99 ( pretty reasonable if you ask me) Also they do not have a storage limit, they do however have a posting limit if you have a free membership. However since their paid membership is so inexpensive it's really not a big deal. Also just because people don't agree with your opinion does not make them liars or people trying to fit in. That being said text america was a wonderful sight and still has some great features, I however feel it is being mismanged.

Theatrdiva must not realize that the TA staff member that handled google groups is Shawn Honnick who was soon after fired for those same reasons (poor customer relations) He now resides at flickr posting hate messages about TA. Textamerica is the absolute best moblog community on the web! Anyone who thinks differently has the right to thier own opinion but please get your facts straight! Free memberships are available and so is the option for $99 memberships without stupid limits on how much you can post per month. Flickr charges for membership & only allows you a set # of storage every month which is lame! Textamerica has it all & it is the only site that is positive & family friendly. It is not filled with negative users like the ones you see here making untrue reviews to fit in with flickr. TA will always be the best moblog place IN THE WORLD!
When I found TA back in 2004 I thought it was pretty cool. A year later, I started a 2nd site on TA and at that point began to interact with some of the other users, and had a great time. I never let it bother me that I got frequent timeouts on TA, there was a very inconsistent interface, or that there didn't seem to be any kind of leadership or authoritative "voice." As TA began to force "improvements" on users, it all started going downhill fast. The last template that was released was full of bugs and felt VERY untested when I used it (evidence of some of its bugs are still obvious on TA!). Later on, they forced the next "version" on TA on us (which was a step BACKwards), and we all lost our right to restrict private information (especially location and last login -- not that the last login signifier on TA actually WORKS -- it does not) to pre-approved friends also on the service. That's when I stopped posting and participating, and started a page on Flickr. Eventually, I heard through a friend that the TA staff had gone off the deep end, and had covertly announced that the service was going pay-only. What a shame that the people who run the site couldn't be bothered to put up a simple page detailing the changes -- you only knew the details if you were a "TA Insider" (a term used in a post by the top person herself). Bad customer service, bad communication, bad impelemtation of features, and a mass exodus of the cool people I met on TA -- all these things contributed to my voluntarily deleting my own account on TA and moving on. My recommendation would be for you to avoid the trouble I went through and just find a different site to use for your photo blog (preferably a professional-level one that is free or really cheap). I would recommend Flickr -- they're awesome!
TextAmerica used to be a great place to be, but it has gone downhill so much to the point that all of their loyal user (me being one) have deleted our accounts in protest. I was a loyal user and referred many new members to the site. I was a part of their Google Group, which was created for users to ask questions, post comments and communicate with the staff. Then, the staffers all of the sudden told us to stop the dialogue, that the group was only going to be used for bugs & problems and not for talk amongst the group. But when we would post concerns (per their request), we wouldn't get a response. We would have to write back 2 or 3 times, and instead of them coming back with a "thanks for your patience" we'd get "a we'll get to it in our own time, or we won't. Relax people." They were no longer accommodating, extremely combative, and this change in attitude was shocking. Then, the rumor started that they would be deleting free moblogs in favor of a paid system. That's a business' prerogative, but they never made an official announcement to their customers. They posted a comment on one of their pages (still not sure which one, I never could find it) saying that free sites would be suspended as of July 1. So, people who saw it spread the word and we all scrambled to try to save our photos before the deletion date. Many people bucked up the $99/year so their stuff wouldn't be deleted. Then what happened? The day before the scheduled suspension, they posted another comment (but no official announcement, again) that they had decided to keep the free moblogs after all. This is horrible business, not only for the paying customers but the free customers too. Add on top of that the threats that get posted as "telegrams" by management, trying to coerce their customers into behaving a certain way by threatening legal action or deletion... It's all too much. Please, for your own sanity, stay away from TextAmerica.

Unfortunately what was once the best moblogging community on the net has become like an old shoe..worn out thanks to it's "new management." When Chris Hoar abandoned TA & the users the site went down hill and fast. Try Flickr its well worth the $29.99 year membership. Textamerica charges $99 per year. Looking at dollars and cents...it's not hard to determine which is the better choice.
The glory days of Textamerica are far behind them. Ever since the CEO Janet Leigh was abandoned by half the senior staff, she has been forced to take a more active role in the day to day running of the site and has proven herself to be ill-equipped for running a large scale operation such as this. Heavy handed is the nicest way of putting it. Dare to question her authority and you will be deleted. It’s her personal playground and you have absolutely no rights. Unless you happen to be one of the last remaining handfuls of "Loyalists" as they like to be called, prepare to be kept in the dark about what’s going on. Don’t expect any emails sent to the users regarding major changes. Communication with the over half a million users is limited to a stray comment here and there from management on a random blog that you'll have to wade thru 50-100 comments to find. And that’s if you know where to look in the first place. The user interface is buggy at best. The entire site is filled with dead links and every so often they promise "NEW FEATURES" that nobody wanted, and are never delivered anyway. Will you fork over $99 to try it for yourself?

The negative posts dated newer than July 1st are closer to reality. TA has deleted many free users in the process of going to a pay only site. If anyone was to make any comments on the TA website about the transition to pay only, their comments would be immediately deleted by the editors, and their account would be suspended and deleted. Any free users that didn't know about the transition, wer left in the dark and probably still don't know what is going on. The bottom line is that if you place your trust in blogging on TA, you will have to pay a high price for a service that is much less expensive elsewhere.
I would expect certain people to make positive comments here about TA. BUT how is TA going if they are keep losing their base. Banning long time users from various features without letting them know why and other ARBITARY actions do not leave a good feeling with users. What is funny I that several of the people who made positive comments below are now gone from TA due to the actions of the owners and monitors. If TA is o survive then they need to apply equal actions to all and advise users when something is not acceptable.

That's basically what TA is saying..Stick a fork in me, I'm done. The community has disolved drastically since all of the positive comments were posted. Even then they were posted by the users because it was a contest. Best review here received a prize! Sad, huh? Try Flickr...it's a much better community (more geared for adults rather than children).

A resource as valuable as Textamerica has brought me more than entertainment. It has given me something I couldn't seem to get before, and that was a sense of posting what's on my mind, then seeing myself from the observers point of view; learning MORE about myself than I ever had before. In sharing that with others around the globe, I've learned what it's like to be a part of an incredible community, with others like me. Textamerica is in it's dying days. They charge you 99.00 up front with no trial for a buggy site with limited storage and bandwidth. The CEO Janet and the people she's allowed to manage the site have let it degrade for so long (i.e.: allowing internet bullying, posting of near soft porn, giving non staff members special access and privelages etc) that the site is in an unrecoverable status. She is now deleting members on a whim and those she personally doesn't like. The business practices of the site alone should turn anyone away and have already caused many long time users to leave for other services. For 99.00 you get an inferior service with a dying, elitist community and a ceo who if doesn't like you then can delete you at any time, even if you're a paid member and haven't broken any terms of service. If you want a site that's about interesting moblogging pictures i'd look elsewhere. If someone from TA tells you changes are coming and it will be the best moblog community and site ever.....well they've been promising that for years and the only new feature in the last 6 months is a new template design submitted by a member. Technically speaking Flickr is years ahead of ta. Customer service and support are nearly non existent. They seem to answer certain users right away and some never get replies. I was charged twice for one month, emailed them several times and never got a reply or my money back, when they offered a monthly payment plan(which they no longer do). TA has truly become tna, just surf the comment lounge or ta live and you'll see more tna there than on any other pic site i've come across. Flickr, Pixpulse, and Buzznet all offer more features for moblogging for free or 1/4 the cost for pro accounts. Avoid TA at all costs.

TextAmerica is easily my favorite moblog community out there. No site is perfect, and that includes TA. There are squabbles, and cliques, and everything else you'll encounter in the real world. But there are also some very real and caring people there. TextAmerica also provides users with very helpful tools that can help us keep riffraff off of our own moblogs. That leaves us to enjoy the people and moblogs we enjoy. I've found some other moblogs to be QUITE scary. TextAmerica has room to grow. But as long as it keeps moving in the same direction, it will continue to grow. I say join TA, and enjoy the beauty, laughs, and ample food for thought it has to offer. :)
